Amazon verified on Wednesday that it has cut 16,000 commercial jobs, completing a broader pool reduction plan that has excluded roughly 30,000 places since October. The company also left open the possibility of farther layoffs as it continues to restructure under CEO Andy Jassy.
The rearmost round of job cuts follows an earlier report that Amazon was preparing fresh reductions as part of its trouble to streamline operations, reduce bureaucracy and exit underperforming businesses. The company has been reassessing several divisions amid a wider drive toward effectiveness and increased use of artificial intelligence.
