Spotify Expands Playlist Pinning to 20 Items, Finally Giving Your Library the Upgrade It Needed

Spotify is finally addressing one of its longest-standing user requests. After years of limiting listeners to pinning just four items in Your Library, the music streaming platform has confirmed that users will soon be able to pin up to 20 playlists, albums, podcasts, audiobooks, or artists.

The update, which is rolling out globally over the coming weeks, gives both Free and Premium users much greater control over organizing their libraries. For anyone who relies on Spotify daily, it’s a small change that could make a big difference.

From Four Pins to Twenty

Spotify introduced the pinning feature several years ago as a way to keep favorite content at the top of Your Library. While useful, the four-item limit quickly became one of the platform’s most criticized organization features.

Many users found themselves constantly swapping pinned playlists, podcasts, and albums depending on what they were listening to.

That frustration is finally coming to an end.

Spotify has confirmed it is increasing the limit from 4 pinned items to 20, giving users five times more space to keep their favorite content within easy reach.

A Better Way to Organize Your Library

As Spotify has evolved beyond music into podcasts, audiobooks, and creator content, libraries have become increasingly crowded.

Every saved playlist, followed artist, podcast episode, audiobook, and album ends up in the same library, making navigation difficult—especially for long-time users.

With support for 20 pinned items, listeners can now organize content more effectively, including:

  • Favorite daily playlists
  • Workout mixes
  • Podcasts
  • Audiobooks
  • Frequently played albums
  • Favorite artists

Instead of endlessly scrolling through an expanding library, important content remains available with a single tap.

Rolling Out Worldwide

Spotify says the feature is currently rolling out and will become available to both Free and Premium subscribers worldwide over the next month.

If you don’t see the update immediately, make sure your Spotify app is updated to the latest version.

Another Welcome Quality-of-Life Improvement

The expanded pinning feature joins several recent updates aimed at improving Spotify’s overall user experience.

In recent months, Spotify has introduced:

  • Enhanced playlist folder management on mobile
  • Improved queue and playback controls
  • Better song-mixing customization for Mixed Playlists
  • Listening statistics improvements
  • Additional playlist organization tools

Rather than focusing solely on AI-powered features, Spotify appears to be investing in practical improvements that make the app easier to use every day.

Why This Update Matters

While increasing a pin limit may seem like a minor change, it’s one that many Spotify users have requested for years.

For listeners with dozens—or even hundreds—of playlists, podcasts, and saved albums, the ability to pin 20 items dramatically reduces the time spent searching through a crowded library.

It’s also another sign that Spotify recognizes its users want greater control over how they organize their digital music collections, rather than relying entirely on algorithms and recommendations.

For heavy Spotify users, this is one of the platform’s most practical updates in years—and one that’s likely to make everyday listening a little more convenient.
