Google’s long-awaited Gemini-powered Home Speaker may finally have a launch date, thanks to a brief listing on Best Buy Canada that appeared before being quietly updated.
The smart speaker, first announced in October 2025, was expected to arrive during Spring 2026, but Google has remained silent despite missing its own timeline. Now, a leaked retailer listing suggests the wait could soon be over.
Best Buy Listing Hints at June Release
According to screenshots captured before the page was edited, Best Buy Canada listed June 25, 2026, as the release date for Google’s new Home Speaker. Although the date has since been removed, such changes often happen when retailers accidentally publish launch information ahead of schedule.
The reported release date also lines up closely with the end of Spring 2026, adding weight to speculation that Google is preparing for an imminent launch.
Gemini Takes Center Stage
Unlike previous Nest speakers, Google’s upcoming Home Speaker is designed around Gemini, the company’s next-generation AI assistant.
Instead of relying on traditional voice commands, Gemini enables more natural conversations, contextual follow-up questions, and smarter home automation. Some advanced capabilities, including brainstorming-style conversations, will require a Gemini subscription.
Familiar Design With Modern Touches
The Home Speaker features a compact, fabric-covered design with:
- 360-degree speaker layout
- Dynamic LED light ring that responds during conversations
- Physical microphone mute switch on the base
- Four color options:
- Berry
- Hazel
- Jade
- Porcelain
Google also allows users to pair two speakers together for stereo sound or connect them with the Google TV Streamer for a home theater setup. Existing Nest Audio speakers can also be grouped for multi-room audio.
Pricing and Availability
The Google Home Speaker is expected to launch at $99.99 in the United States.

Why the Delay?
While Google hasn’t officially explained the delayed launch, the extended rollout of Gemini for Home may be the reason.
Since late 2025, Google has gradually expanded Gemini support across compatible smart home devices through frequent software updates. Waiting until the AI platform was more mature before releasing dedicated hardware would allow the company to deliver a more polished experience at launch.
